Getting warning:
You have to define which CSV column maps to Issue Id if you want to import parents.
The below is the mapping I am trying to do to bulk import and link Epics with the Initiatives. Please note initiatives are already imported and the Parent ID field is the Jira issue key for initiatives.
Hi Latika - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Do the Epics already exist? Or are you creating them?
If they exist, you will map the Epic ID to the issue Key. If they do not exist and you are creating them, then you don't need to map that field.
Yes, the Initiative would be mapped to the Parent field. But make sure the value in that column is not a name up the issue key of the initiative (e.g. ABC-123).
And you don't need the Parent ID field.
Hi John,
I am trying to bulk import the epics. Here epic ID refers to Id of our internal tool, its a custom field.
Since I do not have any parent ID field in Jira or epic screen, is it the reason that the parent id field is not getting mapped?
Would really appreciate some clarity here.

Okay, thanks for the info.
Yes, the Initiative would be mapped to the Parent field. But make sure the value in that column is not a name up the issue key of the initiative (e.g. ABC-123).
And again, you don't need to map Parent ID, but maybe you can rename Initiative Name in your CSV to Parent ID - and then map that field to the Parent field.

Hi John,
It didn't work so i chose the normal bulk import option where we are able to import 250 issues at a time.
Just want to understand if you have any clarity why same file worked on normal import option and for external system import option, it threw the error i have mentioned above?

I don't. That would be a question for Atlassian. You should open a support ticket with them. If you do and get an answer, it would be great if you could share that back here.
