I would like to be able to see more details on a story in the swimlane view. Currently, Jira shows the story number, status, #-subtasks, story summary. I would like to see assignee, priority, and perhaps story points on that line. Is there a way to control what shows on the swimlane rows when using the swimlane = story?
Go to board configuration and update the card layout to include more fields like Assignee, priority and others.
Thanks for offering a solution but I don't think this will work in my case. The card layout affects the cards (in this case the sub-tasks) on the swinlane board but does not show the assignee of the story which is displayed as the name of the swimlane.

I've been trying to visualize Priority and Story Points, with no success (they do show up on the card, but not in the swimlane header)

If you are using classic board then you can edit the card layout. There are limits, number of fields and placement is fixed.
Go to Board settings > card layout
