can i edit the names of the headers of a board?

Robert Burns June 13, 2019

we would like to change the header names on a board, instead of 'to do', 'in progress', 'done', we would like to change them to something else.

is this possible?

I've had a search in the settings and cant find the screen i should be looking for.

any help is much appreciated.

Hi Robert,

Looks like you are using a Business type Project which limits your capabilities to change headings on the board. Your option of changing the Status name is the correct route.

See the section under "Board columns are related to your project workflow"

Thank you,

I changed the workflow names to suit our needs, however it changed that particular status to the changed status throughout every project.

if i create a new workflow from scratch and change the statuses will that still change them on existing projects?

You should need to create new statuses with the new names in the new workflow. Does that make sense?

Hi, when you go to the board configuration (you need to be allowed to configure the board), you can see the columns and change the names there. Just click on the name.

Thats the way on jira server; no idea, if it is the same in jira cloud.

is that using jira service desk? mine doesn't look the same.

I did manage to change the headers by changing the workflow names.

just seen your comment about jira server. apologies.

I guess it is slightly different for the cloud and server

hm, seems to be different :). We use JIRA Server 7.12 (hope we change it soon to 8.x) and the boards/projects are software or business stuff, not Jira service desk.
