Is it possible to export Jira user stories into a CSV or XML?

If so, what are the steps?

thx,

Run a filter for the issues you want to export (e.g. "project = xyz and issuetype = story"), then look across the top of the issue navigator for the export options.

Depending on the version you're on, you'll see either export to Excel or CSV (obviously excel can read csv if you get that, and if you download to excel, you can use "save as" to get it as CSV)

You also have the option of exporting just the fields in your report, or ALL fields.

How do you export the full content including comments and pictures say into word to be able to share the content with external parties?

Do you insist that it has to be in Word format? If PDF would suffice, you could give Better PDF Exporter a try and export all issue details + embed image (or any other type of) attachments:

Anyway, to solve this you most probably need an app of some sort.

Thanks for the reply Levente. PDF is ok, but as our JIRA is locked down by the administrators, so I cannot get a third party app installed.  I was hoping for something standard to be able to export content in a useable and readable format to be be able to share with third parties that we don't want to give access to our systems.

@Levente Szabo _Midori_ - I see your tool doesn't support more than 2000 for export.

Hi @sree @sree

No, there is no such limit in the app. Jira can limit the number of issues that can be exported for performance management reasons. You can read about that here for example or there are a number of threads here in the community as well.

Thanks for your response @Levente Szabo _Midori_ . In our case, we are seeing where a space if it has more than 1000, it fails. We removed all the jira limits. Do you have a shell script where we can give url/space/username/password as parameters and run on file system with sudo?

Is it possible for us to have a screen share?

Hi @sree @sree

We don't normally do screen shares but our support team is pretty quick and effective in helping with technical questions. Please open a ticket with the explanation of what you are experiencing.
