Use Case :
I have a s/w fix that needs to be tested on *a significant machine*.
I need to know when it's going to be available and to book the machine for the duration of my tests.
Once my booking window is over, the resource is released and available for others to book.
I've asked Tempo (Planner) but their planner is solely about people as resource.
Hi! We are currently finalizing a solution that makes it easier to book resources right inside Jira DC - meeting rooms, equipment, parking lots, etc.
We see that many people still do it manually or through crutches - we would like to “hit the mark” and integrate it into the usual process.
If the topic is close to you - we will be glad if you write in a private message or comment. We are actively collecting feedback: what is important, what is missing, how it works (or doesn't work) for you.
And if you are solving similar problems, we can tell you what we are testing. Right now we are looking for teams to share experience.

ActivityTimeline plugin has a possibility to create additional users (non-Jira users) as physical resources. It could be as an additional team, for example.
On a Dashboard you can track the workload and availability. For every resources you can create a booking or a placeholder. Placeholder also can be assosiated with a Jira issue if needed.
You can read the article on our blog about How to Plan Non-Human Resources in Jira? or book a demo session for you if needed.

Hi Amanda,
You can create such a feature with a specific Jira ticket of your own, using for instance Insight/Asset to create your "machine" referential and link ticket "resource booking" to your "machine" with a check that you dont'have any other ticket created on this specific "machine" for a specific period.
Otherwise, you may look at Golive, it seems to fullfill your need of tracking "testing environement". https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212239/golive-environment-management-hub?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
I hope it helps.

Hi @Amanda Culver ,
I am not immediately aware of any add on that does asset scheduling. However, I thought I would ask how Jira fits in here in the event it might spur an actual answer. I have actually used Microsoft Outlook for a similar use case (just like conference rooms). While not ideal for more complex use cases, it did work. Not that I'm suggesting it here just thought I would share that with you.

Thanks Jack. Sadly, I fear we'd struggle with 'availability reporting' and 'idle time' reports. But thanks for replying.
