Reorder Stories in Kanban

Vicki Gearhart September 4, 2019

I have the business version of JIRA and we use it basically to track status of open projects on a Kanban board.

When I add a new story, it goes to the bottom of the list.  Is there a simple way to reorganize these.  I'd like to put like stories together but can't figure it out.

Not sure what a "business version" (Core maybe). Can you use the built in ranking feature and drag/drop the stories in the backlog.

The order is based on the filter that the board uses. So you could experiment with the order by clause to see if you can get what you are looking for. For example if you want the oldest at the top you could order by the "created" field.

Where do I go to change the filter?  This i guess is the default.

On the board open the menu and click "Board settings". Then in the "general" settings click "Edit Filter Query" about halfway down the page.

For experimenting you probably want to create a new board and filter to play around with. When you have what you want you can then make it public or modify an existing board.
