Set starting key number

Steve Park April 12, 2019

We are moving from Jira to Jira Cloud.  Can I set the starting key number so it picks up the numbering from where we left off?

Hey Steve,

I don't believe there is a natural way for Jira to start from a specific number.

There are a couple ways you could get around this though:

  • You could export all of your current records into a CSV and import them into your new system.  This would provide some history from your old instance as well.
  • You could create a CSV with blank issues up to the specific number you are looking to start at.  You could then delete all of the blank issues to have a new instance starting at the right number

Hope this helps,

Tyler
