Showing Epic Name for Sub-bug and Sub-task

yosi hatem March 18, 2025

Hey All,

In sprint view, I am already showing the epic name for tasks, stories, bugs which is great

We are using also sub-bug and sub-task on our project

Problem is, sub-bug and sub-task doesn't show the epic name on the card.

Is there way to add this for the issue types as well?

Thanks in advanceepicname2.png

Hi Yosi,

Jira follows the below hierarchy by default. where standard issuetypes is parent for all subtasks.

Epic -> Standard issue type(Task, Story, Bug)-> Subtask

Alternatively, you choose to link subtask to the Epic and you can see it on the card.

I hope his helps.

Hey,

I already added "Parent" to subtask, but it's not shown like "label" from Active Sprint.

Hi Yosi,

If you have added Epic as a Parent to a subtask it should show Epic name on the board

Please ensure the below

1) Check if you are using a default 'Parent' field and not any other 'Parent' custom field.

2) Ensure Epic is enabled under view setting

I have tried the same, it does show Epic name on the subtask card. Pls refer the snapshot
