Hello,
Last week we started having problems with our issue templates:
When any member of our team wants to create a ticket from the template, it will automatically assign the template creator as the reporter, not the person who actually creates the ticket.
Everything worked fine 2 weeks ago. Now, whoever creates a bug ticket from the template permanently assigns 1 person as the reporter(the person who created the template). Only the project admin has the right to change the reporter, which is impossible to manage in a big company with multiple projects.
My question:
Is it something we can config ( I am the Issue Template project admin and cannot find it in the settings)? Or something has changed and now it is a bug?
Hello @Maciej Dudziak [Deviniti]
Thank you for the great product!
What if we would still need the reporter field in the scope?
We are a team of project managers to whom assignees need to report on their tasks.
At the moment, when any project manager is using the template I originally created, I am automatically the reporter for each new project (Legendary issue in our case). Ideally, we would like them to be automatically the reporter of each issue.
Is there something we could do/change to make it happen?
Best,
Gabriel
Hello Anna,
I am the product owner of the Issue Templates for Jira Cloud app. I believe it is the app you are using. Recently, we have released a new version in which we try to copy as much fields as possible during the create event. If you have the Reporter field in the template's scope, then it will be copied from the template during create ( it has changed since the last version, where current user was the initial reporter). Without going into details, what you can do, is simply remove the Reporter from the scope.
Template configuration can be found in issue view. There is a dropdown to select a scope, and under the dropdown you will find its description with the link to Scopes configuration. If you want to copy all fields except reporter, you can configure chosen scope to use handy option "All fields except" Reporter.
Because it easier to see it on screenshots than explain, please have a look at our documentation about:
1. Template configuration: https://deviniti.com/support/addon/cloud/issue-templates/latest/template-configuration/
2. Template's fields ( Scope ): https://deviniti.com/support/addon/cloud/issue-templates/latest/template-fields/
Kind regards,
Maciej
