We have the native time tracking turned on in Jira.
I would like to print out work log details for invoicing.
If I put in a date range I want only the time spent for logs in that range to be included.
I enter my time logs with a start date and time and duration.
Where do I then print a report for those work logs?
The only place I found was in the All Items and used JQL to limit the list by date, but that shows the total work log time including work logs outside of the date range.
Where can I print / export a report of the actual work logs filtered by the work log date?
I appreciate all the offers for plugins, but we have decided this requirement isn't worth messing with plugins.
Too bad the native work logs don't allow what we need. That is a big hole.
Hi @tony_pitman
Welcome to the community !!
If you are open to try out apps for detailed time tracking reports, I can suggest the one we have developed
Worklogs Time Tracking in Jira & Timesheets
With this add-on, you can easily add the worklog authors and time tracking reports as a dashboard gadget. Main features of the app -

Hi Tony 👋
One more thing. Since you’re looking to use work logs specifically for invoicing, it might be more efficient to use a complete invoicing solution inside Jira rather than just exporting logs and handling everything manually afterward.
That’s where Clerk Invoices comes in. It’s built specifically for automating invoicing from Jira work logs:
Pulls work logs straight into invoices with the right client, project, or cost center.
Lets you set rates and billing rules.
Automatically generates and attaches time reports to each invoice, so clients see exactly what was logged.
Exports clean files you can send or integrate with your finance system.

Hi @tony_pitman 👋
Jira’s native time tracking can’t export individual worklogs by date — JQL only shows total time spent on issues, not the actual entries in your chosen range.
If you need invoice-ready output based on the actual work log entries within a specific date range, JetTime can generate exactly that:
Worklog report by work log date (start/end), with filters for user, project, issue, and JQL.
Entry-level detail (author, date/time, duration, comment) — not just aggregated totals.
CSV/Excel export that you can drop straight into your invoicing workflow.
Optional cost centers, hourly rates, and custom metrics to produce clean billing lines.
Start/stop timers to keep logs accurate.
Privacy-first: built on Atlassian Forge, so all data stays within your Jira Cloud.

Hi @tony_pitman Tony,
Jira’s native time tracking doesn’t offer advanced reporting or export options by work log date. The Time & Cost Tracker for Jira app makes this much easier. You can select a specific date range, and the report will include only the work logged within that period, based on start time and duration.
You’ll get detailed reports showing the user, issue, original estimate — perfect for invoicing or internal tracking. Reports can be exported to Excel, CSV, or PDF, so you can easily share them or attach them to invoices.
Unlike using JQL alone, which may include time outside your selected dates, this app ensures the report reflects exactly what was logged in your chosen timeframe.
All-in-One Solution — time tracking, reporting, and invoicing all in one place.

Hi @tony_pitman
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Natively, Jira does not offer extensive time tracking reporting and exporting options.
However, if you are looking for an easy and intuitive way to track the time spent on tasks by your team members and export time tracking reports for invoicing, I would like to suggest our in-house developed app, available on the Atlassian Marketplace – "Worklogs - Time Tracking and Time Reports".
Worklogs allow for easy viewing and filtering reports consisting of time logged to various work items, across multiple users, groups, and projects:
Per your requirements, the reports can be easily extracted to a spreadsheet file for further processing outside Jira:
It is also worth adding that if the time was previously logged into work items through Jira, then these logs should already be visible in Worklogs, as it makes use of Jira's native time tracking features.
If you are interested in our solution, we kindly invite you to check it out!
Best regards,

Hey @tony_pitman
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
With the Jira native time tracking, we don't have extensive reports. We can use the worklogdate clause in JQL to get the work items where time was logged on a given date.
But the time spent column shows the total time entered in the entire lifecycle of the work item.
I believe the only option is to explore Marketplace apps for this requirement.
Thanks!
