Some Jira users have only access to one project. If this project is not enabled in Greenhopper (classic boards), the user will not see a list of boards under the Agile menu. When clicking on Agile, only the Getting Started window will show up. The user can access boards through the open existing board link found in the Getting Started window. The list of Recent boards is not updated though, and the user always has to go back to the Getting Started screen to find any existing board.
As a work around. I have enabled ALL projects in the GH configuration for the Classic Board and now users with access to only one project are seeing the Rapid Boards they have access to without going to the "Getting Started" page first.
Any issues like this will not be fixed as they are not updating the classic boards. Open issues can be see at the jira tracker. On the plus side the new v6 boards are getting better all the time.

I think you don't understand what the problem is. We are already using GH v6. We are not using Classic Board. I do have to enable the project as a classic board so the user is able to see it automatically instead of the "Getting Started" GH page.

In this scenario is the rapid board list populated even if a user opens a rapid board? Once openeed the rapid board is auto added to the recent list.

I forgot to mentioned that I also have reported this issue to Atlassian already and they have opened a bug ticket for this. https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-5890

Yes, that's correct but if the user clicks on the "Agile" menu option, he/she will be taken to the "Getting Started" screen instead of any of the Rapid boards. the other scenario where this is problematic is if the user configured his/her profile to show the Agile Rapid Boards instead of the Dashboards as default. When the user logs in, he/she will be takent to the "Getting Started" page. The only work around is to enable all your projects to use Greenhopper in the Greenhopper Classic Board configuration. Try it out yourself and you'll see what I'm talking about:
