Hello,
We're using version 4.0.1.
Can we upgrade version to 6.4.11 directly and migrate all data?
Is version upgrade like 6.4.1, 6.4.2, 6.4.3,...made by automatic patch? or Do we have to install separate S/W?
Thank you
Song
Hi Song.
You will need first to upgrade manually to JIRA 4.4.5 and from 4.4.5 you can upgrade using any methods to 6.4.11 directly.
Cheers!
Teilor
Hi Teilor,
Thanks for the answer!
I looked through https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/supported-platforms-207488170.html but I wonder which Linux version that 6.4 version supports and if we still can use JBoss with 6.4 because we're using JBoss with current version 4.0.1.
Thank you

Hi Song! You can run JIRA in your preferred linux distro. You can't use JBoss for newer versions of JIRA, only Tomcat is supported now.

Hi Teilor,
Although I looked through Atlassian Expert page (https://www.atlassian.com/resources/experts),
I don't understand what is different between support from Atlassian and Atlassian Expert.
Could you explain to me in detail about which services that we can get and cannot get if we continue in 4.0.1?
What is strong point of version 6 compared to 4 clearly?
Thank you

Atlassian provides technical support for JIRA instances with a valid license and that did not reach EOL state yet. Atlassian Experts are third-party companies and professionals who provide a large range of services related to Atlassian products, but are not Atlassian employees. If you choose to keep using JIRA 4, Atlassian will not provide technical support for your instance, and your only option to get technical support would be find an Expert who would be willing to help you with a rather old version of JIRA. Check the releases notes for JIRA 6 and JIRA 6.4 in the links below: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/jira-6-0-release-notes-339050949.html https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/JIRA+6.4+Release+Notes

Hello Teilor,
Thanks for your answer.
Then do we need both JIRA 4.4.5 and 6.4.11 licenses?
If we continue to use JIRA 4.0.1, which is quite old version, could we get technical support and S/W patch from Atlassian?
Thank you

Hi Song! You can use the same license key for 4.4.5 and 6.4.11. v4.0.1 already reached End of Life Support, so you will not receive support from Atlassian, but if you choose to continue in 4.0.1, you can get support from a Atlassian Expert (https://www.atlassian.com/resources/experts) Here further information about EOL https://confluence.atlassian.com/support/atlassian-support-end-of-life-policy-201851003.html
