Hi,
I want to delete inactive users and trying to find information about what to think about. I know I have read information before of what happens with reported issues, assigned issues, project and filters etc linked to a user if that user is deleted but now I can't find this information.
What I do find is people saying "Don't delete users". But I must be able to delete users. We cannot keep a record of all previous users forever.
We are using Jira Software, Jira Service desk and Confluence (CLOUD)
Can anyone tell me what to think about before deleting a user?
Before deleting a user from Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, and Confluence, it's important to handle the reassignment of any issues assigned to them in order to prevent disruptions in the workflow configuration. Verify shared filters and dashboards associated with that user and update them accordingly. Also, check for permissions - removing a permission may have broader impacts. Finally, ensure that space permissions in Confluence are considered as well. These steps can help minimize potential disruptions to ongoing work.
Thank you
Thank you for your reply!
I am not sure I understand how issues assigned to a user, and the deletion of that user, would impact the workflow configuration?
What would happen to an issue with User A as assignee if User A is deleted?
We have deleted users before and the name of that user still appears on issues they reported (as reporter) and the name also appears in comments for example but don't remember if we changed assignee before we deleted that user.
Do you happen to know if there are any documentation regarding this on Atlassian Support that I can read? I had previously saved a link to some documentation but that link is not working anymore.
Thanks!
/Linda
