Why Jira allows users to create multiple labels for the same word?

Like this one, force users not to create mounts of similar word for work efficiency.

Hi Vedat - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

This is why, in my opinion, you should use Components instead of labels.

Hi @VEDAT YUCE _TBMNC_ I got a reply from Atlassian Support.

"...Even though the option to create a "(New label)" appear, even if you select that, it won't create a duplicate label and will just add the existing one.

We have the following bug report about this UI inconsistence:

Please access the bug page and click on Start watching this issue to receive all the updates about that. ..."

So I would suggest voting for and watching that ticket as it only has 2 votes.

Hi @VEDAT YUCE _TBMNC_

Try out  Colored label Manager  , you have the ability to restrict new label items creation, Project Admins can add items to the field. User can select those items from the list. Useful for label fields like Definition of Done or Select List .

You can also report on labels , there’s absolutely no coding required and certainly no need to learn Jira Query Language (JQL) for that matter.

And more ..

Hi @VEDAT YUCE _TBMNC_ I can't think of a use case for duplicate labels.  I use labels I'm using for Automations.  I could imagine that these Automation could get messed up because of that.  I would suggest contacting Atlassian Support to see if there is a valid use case for this behavior.  I can see the difference in the labels between 'equipment' and 'equipment.'.

I can replicate it on my instance too.  IMHO, I don't think it should work that way.

I took a quick look on Atlassian's Jira site and couldn't find anything related, but I may have missed it.
