×i want to use data from JIRA environment to be used in my tableau reports , Tableau does not provide any native connector for this so may be I have to Built a web connector for tableau , but I need to know how data is saved inside JIRA and how can we retrieve this data both from server and cloud .
For cloud, there is a plugin that can help: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.kaanha.jira.tableau/cloud/overview
Server is a bit trickier, and you may find some answers on this Tableau forum question (essentially asking the same question):
thanks amy

Hi,
if you're looking for an automation solution, I can recommend you try the 3rd party app Skyvia. It provides Jira to Tableau integration (https://skyvia.com/data-integration/analyze-jira-with-tableau) with an additional step - loading Jira data to a database or a cloud data warehouse.
I found Skyvia on the Atlassian marketplace.

Hi Everyone!
For using any third-party connector or using any in-house connector you have to keep in mind the points mentioned in the below article, mainly the authentication and performance part!

You can try our Tableau Connector for Jira https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221376/tableau-connector-for-jira?hosting=server&tab=overview
It supports a wide range of Jira data configuration to export any field you wish: Jira tables and fields, including Custom fields, History, Jira Service Desk, Tempo Timesheets, Tempo Planner, Portfolio for Jira, Agile, and others.
Here you can find a detailed installation guide https://www.alphaservesp.com/blog/tableau-connector-for-jira-installation-guide/

You can also use the JIRA DB (if on premise) as a data source in Tableau.

The problem of direct access to Jira DB is that it breaks Jira permissions and no support for JQL.
If those things are important for you then SQL+JQL Driver might be an alternative to connect Jira with Tableau via standard JDBC or web data sources and run SQL compatible with JQL remotely.
Disclaimer: I work at the company selling the app.
