Did you mean:

that "This board has been updated: Refresh" popup

hello,

this has been going on for months at least, but I don't remember exactly when it started: every time I have a ticket open in Jira and I change the ticket's status or the Assignee, a pop-up appears:

API Board - Agile Board - JIRA 2020-02-17 11-08-33.png

... the purpose of which eludes me, because:

  • there is nothing to update in the first place (whatever it is that has been updated is already showing);
  • I caused that update myself mere seconds ago, so what's the point in reminding me of that?

In short: it's pointless. A line from a Monty Python sketch comes to mind that applies wonderfully to this pop-up: "We interrupt this programme to annoy you and make things generally irritating".

I searched all over the place for a switch to disable this thing, but in vain.

Could someone please tell me how to disable it?

Or, better still, remove it from Jira altogether? I know that's asking a bit much, but hey, nothing gained, nothing lost ;)

I completely agree with Luthien, especially with the Monty Python analogy :-)

This popup attracts attention and interrupts editing. It is especially annoying during scrum meetings (stand up meetings etc.) when it keeps popping up.

Hello Luthien,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Testing using the details you provided, I was able to replicate the same behavior.

Currently, there is no configuration to disable this pop-up message, so when updating a ticket, it will show, even if we are the only one updating a ticket on the board.

Based on your feedback, I created a feature request suggesting the implementation of such ability:

Please, click on vote and watch to receive updates about the feature.

I voted and am agreeing with Luthien and Shay.

I would prefer to disable it completely but can also manage a toast/notification that does not persist like the current modal if Atlassian feels the need to remind us to refresh every single time we make an update.

it would be really nice if it was not a popup, just a note on the page with a little refresh icon that is now enabled.

You know the thing missing from Jira, a good workflow.

I completely agree.  I just made the change so it is telling me it updated, why?

Besides this it is covering always on top to continue working I have to click it since it is blocking the dialog.  It would be nice to be able to move the dialog out of the way.

Quick question:

if the board knows it has an update why doesn't it just update it?
