Reindexing Jira Server in background results in crashC

Please comment with any advice regarding failure/Server crashes while engaging in background re-indexing.

Currently we do a full reindexing which succeeds.

Start by reading the log - what error is happening that crashes it?  

It's almost certainly going to be in the application log - <jira home>/logs/atlassian-jira.log but you might want to check the other logs in that directory, and possibly the server log at <jira install>/log/catalina.out
