This morning I purchased a renewal of my JIRA starter license today, upgraded JIRA Software and entered the new key when prompted. After restarting my server, I am still getting an expired license errror.
I previously had JIRA Service Desk installed and licensed as well, but I did not renew Service Desk and have uninstalled it.
I've gone through the process twice now and I'm not sure what to look at next since I can't do anything else in the interface.

Apparently in addition to applying the new license, it is a requirement to use the "Remove expired licenses" option.
Perhaps because I had previously licensed Service Desk? Not sure if that's why, or why they can't just ignore the expired license for uninstalled software, but removing expired licesnses seems to have done the trick.
