Reporter should only see own issues

Janice Lim June 15, 2019

I'm trying to create a role/permission where a Vendor is added to an existing project, but they can only see the issues they've reported.

I've been searching for answers to this problem but many answers point to this article (http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Current+Reporter+Browse+Project+Permission) which seems to be a server specific solution.

Here are the steps I've taken so far:

1. Created a "Product/Engineering" Group for those involved with the project

2. Created a "Reporter Only" Group with the Vendor added to that group

3. Created a new Permission Scheme with those 2 groups and applied to the project:

4. Created an issue security security scheme with a Reporter Only level and applied to the project.

The steps above didn't work at all, any suggestions? I also didn't see an option to assign issue security when creating an issue.

Hi Janice,

the article you linked to speaks about making only projects visible to users they can report issues in. So that's not what you were aiming at, correct? The easiest solution is to just use the Browse Projects permission in a project to achieve this. No security level etc. needed on top. That's a very common use case. Have a look at this article speaking about the solution using "reporter", "current assignee" and/or issue level security: How to limit user to only browse issues assigned to or reported by them.

Best, Max
