Set due date without Edit issues permission

Hi all, I have a group of users who don't have permission to edit an issue. However, they have permission to transition and schedule an issue if they are the reporter.

Problem is: for open issues that they reported and don't have due dates, it doesn't seem to be anyway for them to set due date as the due date field (when it is empty) is only available in editing screen.

EDIT: Actually even when the due date is NOT empty, users with Schedule issues permission but without Edit issues permission cannot update the due date.

Is there a workaround for this other than giving them Edit issues permission? Thank you.

you can try by adding a transition with an screen containing the due date and allow these users to execute this transition
