I've a software development project. It has an story and I want to set a time stimated for , or for the subtasks.

 I

On the story i can see this widget.

[DEV-1378] ETA Auto tramitador - Jira 2018-04-12 10_51.png

And I can log time on the sub tasks. But there is no way to set the estimate. I tried using the issue feature Add Field to add the Time Estimate field, but the only field that appear is "time in status" which i think is not related.

What i'm doing wrong?

Estimations are expected to happen for objects in a backlog, before a sprint starts.  Scrum boards in Jira have not been able to show subtasks directly within them.  Instead only the parent story appears there.   As such, there was not much point to estimating an object that doesn't appear in the backlog.  Instead the idea is that you would estimate the parent issue itself.  In turn, you can still track the time logged on those specific subtasks, but then on the parent issue you have the option to toggle 'include sub-tasks' to understand if the time logged on them.

There is more information on estimating and tracking in https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/configuring-estimation-and-tracking-938845319.html  I hope this helps explain this behavior.
