Start progress while enter working log

Is there a way to start progress (transition) on an issue while adding (a first) work log? Our developers sometimes forget to set an issue to the right status so i want to do some basic stuff automatically.

If this is not possible, can i prevent a new working log in case an issue is not started?

You can try to use JIRA Toolkit Plugin - Auto Transition Listener to achieve this - https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/wiki/display/JTOOL/Auto+Transition+Listener

It is one of bundled plugin in AOD.
