Hi,
There appears to have been a problem with some statuspage sites that use their own custom DNS CNAME record. This was causing attempts to reach that page to redirect to our product landing page instead. Our statuspage team is investigating this further, although it appears that at least some sites are working correctly now such as our own https://status.atlassian.com/
If you have a statuspage site that is unavailable suddenly, I recommend to create a support case so that our team can investigate your specific environment here.
No, you should not have to pay in order to check Atlassian status, but it does look like the normal URL is redirecting to the product site. I just checked my company's status page and it works as expected. I have notified the Atlassian support team that is on the community so they can take a look at it.

The status page appears to be working again now, and no longer redirecting to the statuspage product.
