We are using JIRA for time tracking purposes to see which tasks we are spending most of our time on. Is it possible to view the time I’ve allocated to tasks over a given week so I can easily see how much of my day or week I have already allocated, and still need to allocate?
e.g. something similar to the following...
At the moment, I have to go into each task and allocate 1hr, 3h etc to each task, then I need to keep summing those numbers myself to determine when I have allocated my whole day.
Hi @David Mocnay,
While Jira does indeed have the capability to add estimates and log time on issues, it is true that the reporting and processing capabilities are rather poor. This is an area where you can best look at the many available extensions in the Marketplace to drastically improve your options.
We use and implement Tempo Timesheets as it is a comprehensive solution, but you will see from the above link that there are many options out there.
Hope this helps!
to get proper Reports on the Time Tracking feature it's best advised to use a Marketplace App. The vanilla Jira functionality on this is really lacking and will not make you happy in the long run.

I've filtered the search already for suiting Apps. I recently tried out Timesheets & Gadgets by Tempo and liked it enough. There are loads of others though and most can be tried out for free.

ActivityTimeline, might be just the solution you're looking for.
It can help you to easily generate reports that show both the time planned and the time tracked for tasks.
It eliminates the need to manually sum up the numbers for each task, saving time and effort.
If you're interested in learning more about how ActivityTimeline can streamline your workflow, we'd be happy to provide more information or arrange a demo.

This is a very simple report and most of the time tracking apps in the marketplace can do this. Our time tracking app, WorklogPRO is free for up to 10 users and can easily generate this report and many others.
Also, issues can be hierarchical, for example Initiative/Epic/Task/Subtask. When calculating effort for an issue you may need to consider all the efforts in the issue hierarchy. Our app, WorklogPRO also supports reports on issue hierarchies. You can check our user manual for more details.

If you would be interested in a mktplace app to get this data, you can try the add-on we have developed. You can easily view time entries for multiple issues day wise in a single view. And with the ability to export to a CSV as well. Plus add the app as a dashboard gadget too.
Worklogs Time Tracking & Timesheets
The app allows to filter/Categorize/Group By your worklogs data and a timesheet view too to track individual time spent.
