I am trying to create a rule or other automation that will delete all the stories created in a version with Conditional in the description.

Has anyone done this successfully?

If so, can you share how?

Hi @Stinson_ Stan _Synchrony_ -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

What problem are you trying to solve?  That is, "why do this?"  Knowing that may help the community offer additional suggestions, because...

There is no "undo" feature for work item deletion.  Once gone, they are gone.  And unless your Jira site is using a very disciplined backup process, or has marketplace apps to add undelete features, there will be no way to recover them.

It may be better to instead add an indicator / resolution for "abandoned" as that will allow finding and recovering the work items when needed, particularly in case of mistakes.

Kind regards,
Bill

We regularly have to delete 10 stories that are all conditional when we create a release. I am trying to automate that process instead of opening all 10 stories and deleting them one by one manually.

I have tried to create a rule to do this but there is something missing. It keeps failing with errors.

I would rather have it something we could trigger manually instead of just doing it when a release is created because there may be a time in the future when we do need some of those stories.

Hello @Stinson_ Stan _Synchrony_

To enable us to help you debug your rule please provide the following:

  1. Screen images showing all the details in the rule execution Audit Log entry where errors were recorded.
  2. Screen images showing the entire rule.
  3. The details of the scope of the rule.
  4. The Type of the projects involved. Get that information from the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
  5. From the rule the details of each step that involves a smart value or JQL statement.
