Unable to Populate a Custom Field using Automation for JIRA

We are trying to update a custom field using automation.

The custom field is a User Picker (single user) that is associated to the Edit Issue screen.

This custom field should populate with the issue assignee

I have tried every possible combination of variables to get this to work.  The audit log says that it completed the action and edited the field, but I don't see any update on the issue.

Here is the rule:

Here is the audit log:

Here's the field on the issue after the rule was executed:

And, here is the custom field:

Hi @Wendy Barrington ,

you are assigning the issue to somebody using round robin and then you want to store the assignee to the custom field. Please, which assignee you want to store to the custom field? The one before the assign action? Of after? Thank you.

Hi @Hana Kučerová

I am assigning it via Round Robin to an individual in a group.  I want that individual to be populated into the Last Assignee field.

Thank you, @Wendy Barrington ,

Please try to add Re-fetch issue data action between the assign and edit issue action. Then you should be able to get the new assignee and store it to your custom field.
