Hi,
I am writing here because I am apparently not entitled to directly request support. The AI chat bot suggested to write here in hopes of it getting picked up by support.
I have had a Jira site for my organization in the past which was deleted due to inactivity. When I now try to recreate the site, then it is blocked. Apparently i need to ask support to release the name so i can create the site again, but as stated above this is not possible,
Please help.
Nikolaus

Hi @nikgol ,
Correct, if you are on a Free subscription you're diverted to the community so we can do our best to help you.
I can see someone already escalated the post to Atlassian so with some luck you should have someone reply shortly.

Hi @Dirk Ronsmans,
Sorry to disturb you again, but I am not hearing anything back on this. Is this normal?

Thank you very much for your support @Kishan Sharma and @Dirk Ronsmans.
There is a batch at the top of this thread stating that "We received your request. Help is on the way! An Atlassian Support Engineer will review the post and respond on this thread within 2 business days.". Unfortunately, nothing is happening - now more than two weeks after posting.
It appears that Atlassian/Jira is not willing/able to help. At least I think the tool has a great community to support its users. I will look for other options.
Once again thanks to the community for trying to help me with this issue.

I hope you don't mind me tagging you directly. Despite requesting help on this thread, Atlassian Support Engineers have not responded. Could you please assist or suggest way forward on this ? Thank you!

Hey @Kishan Sharma ,
Glad to help!
Could you share the old instance URL please?
I believe you are trying to create a new instance with same URL/domain name and thus site creation is failing?

To add to above details @Kishan Sharma , Ability to remove redirection from the old URL after renaming Cloud site is logged as a feature request, When a Jira Cloud site is deleted (whether due to inactivity or by request), the site name (e.g., yoursite.atlassian.net
) is not immediately released for reuse. Atlassian reserves the domain for a period of time to prevent accidental data exposure, domain reuse, or confusion.
Could you try below options and see if it allows you to log a ticket?

Hi @nikgol , could you please share the old instance URL here? and answer the queries asked by Chitra ?

Hi @Kishan Sharma,
Yes, the url was closed down some time back due to inactivity.
The URL is: sysinco.atlassian.net
