User Picker Custom Field : default value as currentUser ?

Hi,

Is it possible to set the default value of a user picker custom field to the current logged in user ? It seems I can only select a set user.

The use-case I have is a field in the JSM customer portal where I need to auto-fill a user-picker custom field with the logged-in user.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Dylan

Were you able to set the default value as the logged in user?

Hello Dylan,

I never tried this, but you can try using the following smart value : {{initiator}}

However, this might not work for a JSM project as a client accessing the customer portal may not have a Jira account ..

Let me know if it helped,

Guilhem

Hi Guilhem, thanks for your answer :).

I can't seem to input a smart value as a default value in the "EditCustomFieldDefaults" screen, it's not saving the value.

I need to browse through the users if the default user (the initiator) needs to be changed so the user-picker field type is what I need. Maybe it doesn't accept smart values?

Hi @ADyPo ,

Yes indeed it doesn't seem to work, another way to do this would be to create an Automation rule that would copy the value of the "Reporter" field which is automatically gonna be set to the logged in user during the creation from the portal (if you didn't set it otherwise). You will then be able to copy this value into the desired field during the creation of the issue for instance.
