Hello everybody. I have jira cloud enterprise and the JMWE application installed. My instance has some issue type hierarchy levels beyond epic and I need to validate an issue: only allow the status transition of an issue if it has any child issues assigned to it. This specific item is a new type of item that I configured in the advanced roadmap at the same level as the epic. What is the best way to carry out this configuration?
Hi @Massaut
I’m not familiar with JWME, but if the validators there don’t meet your needs, consider trying the Linked Issues Validator available as part of the Workflow Building Blocks for Jira app. I am from Forgappify, the vendor of the app.
The configuration for your case is pretty straightforward. Take a look below:
I hope it will help.
Cheers

HI @Massaut ,
So for issue of type X you want to validate that the user should not be able to make transition Y if issue has no children?
First decision you need to do is it you want to build
I often tend to prefer validations in these cases as it gives the user a hint of what is needed.
I would explore JWMEs Linked Issues Condition or their Linked Issues Validator . I don't have these in any of my environments today to test out the case, but you should be able to choose link type when configuring the functions, and if you have the structure Parent/child set up in your issue hieararchy that should be used on the condition or validation.
best of luck
Lisa

Hi @Lisa Forstberg
Yes, this is exactly my need. The issue to leave the backlog for in Progress needs to have children.
I tried to do both methods here with JMWE: condition and validation, but in neither of them was I successful.
I'm imagining that the application has a bug or this functionality only works for native Jira issues.
Thank you for your time.

I would contact the support of the applications to get some more help or maybe post a picture of your workflow validation here so we can investigate it further.
Normally the Addon vendors have an excellent support!
