When I mark an Epic as done, I don't want to be able to link issues to it, how do I do that?

Alexis Baker May 11, 2018

Hi,

I've created a number of epics that when I go to the Agile board, and mark as done, they disappear from the left hand side. I can still add an issue to the epic, even though it's been marked as done, and it still appears in the Epic Link as an option. How do I stop this from happening ( this piece of work has completed, and I want to avoid people from using the old Epic)

We're currently using Jira & Agile version 6.4.13

In order to remove the Epic from the Epic Link drop-down you need to mark the Epic as done, and this is different from changing the status of the Epic to done. In your backlog, open up the Epics panel and under the drop-down select Mark as done.

Thanks for getting back @Mikael Sandberg!

I've done this, but I can still add an issue to a 'done' Epic, assuming that you know the Epic number / name. Is that functionality expected?

Thanks,

Alexis

I think it was an issue in Jira 6 that is causing this behavior, it has been fixed in Jira 7.

Thanks, thought it would have been sorted in a later version! :)

Right, time to upgrade! :-D
