Where Can I view Initiative

Ri A February 28, 2024

Hi.

Anyone know where I click to see the Initiatives in a JIRA board the same way one can go to backlog and view Epics. I will really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hello @Ri A

Can you provide more information about the view you are trying to obtain? Please show us an example screen image of the Epic view that you would want to use as a model for viewing Initiatives.

Hi Trudy, thanks for your response.

To view Epics, I can easily view it in the backlog as shown in the video but I don't know where I can view the initiative like this.

I currently have 4 initiatives set up but I can only view them through children e.g an epic or story.

Hello @Ri A

You added an image, not a video, to your post. And I am unclear what part of that you are referring to as the Epic view? Are you referring to the Epics panel that can be opened on the left side?

If so, there is no support in the backlog or board views for having a comparable view of other types of issues, like Initiatives.

I notice that the tags on your post indicate you are using the Free version. In the Free version there are only three hierarchy levels:

Epic > standard issues > subtask issue

In the Free version Initiative would be a standard level issue, like a Task, Story, or Bug.

The same is true for a Standard subscription.

With a Premium or Enterprise subscription you can add levels above Epic, such as Initiative. But there is still no specialized display for those extra levels within Backlog and Board views.

You can see those extra levels displayed hierarchically in the Advanced Roadmaps Plans.

Hi Trudy, I am using a premium version at work... I prefer to use my personal email to join the community due to restrictions on work email....

Yes the view in the image is the Epic panel, I understand there is no panel for other issues like initiatives but I was wondering if there is any particular place I can click to view all the initiatives. This is required for leadership reporting , please I will appreciate any help. Thanks

There are many ways you can view the initiatives.

You can go to Issues > View all issues and execute a search to generate a list of the initiatives.

You could go to Plans and create a plan that shows all the issues in hierarchical arrangement.

If the Initiatives are included within the scope of the board, then you should be able to filter the board display to show just the Initiative issue types using the Type filter at the top of the board.

You are amazing. Thanks. I used your advice and searched, our board is on "advanced search" by default but I changed it to basic, filtered the projects and saw it listed as in your image. I really appreciate.
