Why are there existing backlog items showing up in new Kanban board, created in existing project?

Al DeLosSantos March 6, 2018

I created a new Kanban board in an existing project that has tons of epic and versions.

There are many backlog items showing up in my new board (I have not added any backlog items yet!) from other Epics.

Can anyone explain why?  Sorry, I'm a newb!!!

A board is a view of a set of issues, it is not a container for them.

Your board is selecting issues as per the rule you've given it, check the board filter to see what that says.

Thanks Nic,

I've not set up any rules or filters for the board yet.  I'm exploring how to do that now.  So, looks like the default rule/filter is for a new Kanban board to view all open issues in a project?  That's not how I would have configured JIRA, but perhaps I need to discuss this with our Administrators...

Best regards,

Al D.
