Why do I have dozens of "Jira Service Desk Permission Scheme for Project" schemes?

Hi,

Does Jira Cloud automatically generate a "Jira Service Desk Permission Scheme for Project abc" scheme for each Jira Service Desk?

Are they all copies of the default Jira Service Desk Permission Scheme?

I am going to now compare them all, replace all duplicates with a "CompanyName Jira Service Desk Permission Scheme".

Has anyone else found this? I search documentation, nothing comes up.

Hello @LynnG

Yes, when a new project is created a new Permission Scheme is created for it based on a default for the type of project created. The schemes may have been manually changed after initial creation.

Permission Schemes are for Company Managed projects. During the project creation process you can designate a new project to share the configuration of an existing project. That would share all the configurations (issue types, workflows, screens, and permissions...) and then a new scheme would not be created.

If you don't want to share the entire project configuration then you can create a generic permission scheme separately and associate it to the project after the project creation is completed. Then delete the new scheme that was created.
