Why is comment edit marked as anonymous when it was performed by a logged-in user?

Neil Talbott August 31, 2021

We have a Jira Cloud instance with many projects. Last week I commented on an issue on one of our projects. Later, a colleague edited my comment; I received an email notification about this which was normal and included his name. However, when I looked at the issue on the Jira site I saw this:

JiraAnonymous.png

The edit is erroneously marked as anonymous even though the commenter was definitely logged in when he edited the comment. Other than the email notification, there seems to be no way to identify who made this comment.

I have checked the permission schemes and there is absolutely no anonymous/Public access granted to any part of this project.

This is unacceptable and we need to prevent a repeat. Can anyone suggest how/why this might have happened please?
