is there anyway to update fix version on transition ?

i'd like to make sure developers always add a fix version whenever they deploy a new fix (defect or story) once they transition the story from "pending deployment" TO "ready for QA" so that testers will find fixes by version codes

is there anyway to make that field a condition when transitioning to it? if not possible can i at least add a note or reminder to whoever is doing this transition to please add a fix version?

I think the best way to achieve this would be to use a field validator on the transition with a plug-in such as JSU or JMWE.

Unfortunately not that I know of, otherwise I would have suggested it. It is built-in in cloud but not in server. I believe these two plugins are the most popular along with scriptrunner.
