does the add-on works only for stories or for the tasks as well?

 visualized are issues of type Epic and Story. the relation is the custom field "epic_link" as it is used by Jira Agile.

But you can include other issue Typs with a JQL Statement on Manage Maps, example: 

project in (Yourprojectkey) and type in ( Story,  Epic, Bug, Improvement)

You can easily try your jql in the standard jira issue search area
