why site admin can't login as another user?

Dear all,

I am having a role as site admin, but i cannot use the feature to login as another user, even though the user i want login is not site admin, just a regular user, where can i check the permission?

Hi Nicolas,

Are you using managed users? Can you log in as any other user?

may i know first what is managed users?

Click on Settings > User Management. 

Does what you see look like this?

And if so, and you click on Managed accounts link, do you get a list of users? If so, you are using Managed accounts/users

no, im not a managed users then

So, what steps are you actually doing?

i have this 3 option when i click user, all user are shown, and when i click managed accounts, it's locked

Okay, so go to the Users. Then search for the user you want and click on them to bring them up. 

Then under the product access, click the 3 dots to the right of the product you want to login as. Do you see Log in as user there?

yeah i see lo in as user, but it's locked

If they are not an Org Admin or have User Access Admin permissions and you are an Org Admin, then I would open a support ticket with Atlassian to find out what is up.

Yes, the user that i want to try to log in as user is not a Org Admin or have user access admin permissions

Are YOU an Org Admin? You must be an Org Admin to be able to log in as a user. Not just be a Site Admin.

i am not a org admin, i am just only site admin

1. Does this happen with only one user or all users?
2. Is the org admin able to "login as user" 

So according to the article, since you are a site admin, you need to follow the steps as mentioned beneath heading 'Original user management content'.

You are certain none of the mentioned limitis apply:

• You can’t use this feature to:
  • log in as a user who has the same role as you or higher (meaning, if you're an site admin, you can’t log in as another site admin)log in as an invited user who hasn’t accessed your site yet
  • log in to your own user account to access a product
  • log in to Jira Service Management portal-only customer accounts
