This is my conversion settings.
I want to confirm the following questions before I hit the convert button:
Some projects manage their start and end dates only in Jira field and some only in Gantt Chart filed.
1. What happen to the values in Jira start and end date fields when there is no value in Gantt Chart app's start and end dates field? will the values in Jira field remain?
2. If there is no start and end date field in Jira issue and start and end states values are in Gantt Chart app, will the value in Gantt chart appear if I add the start and end date field back to Issue after the conversion? (or do I have to do it before the conversion?)
Hi @VPN担当者
It's been a whole since I made the conversion but the start dates and the end dates we entered in Jira ticket fields still don't reflect in Gannt Chart. We still need to manually enter the dates in Gantt Chart. Can you advise me on how to fix it?
Hello @Hsinyi Hung ,
Have you set Jira custom fields (Start date (WBS Gantt-Chart) and Finish date (WBS Gantt-Chart)) on the Jira ticket screen and entered the value there?

Correct me if I am wrong. Issue configurations on the global admin settings only apply to company-managed project. Most of our jira project are team-managed. Does this mean there is no way for us to link the start date and end date to Gantt Chart fields?

Hello @Hsinyi Hung ,
If you are using team-managed projects, then please click "Open WBS Gantt-Chart" on the right side of the issue screen and change the Start/Finish date. The change will reflect on the Gantt Chart.

So the start date field and the end date field on the Jira ticket itself won't be reflected in Gantt Chart fields?

Yes, that's correct. Unfortunately, there is no way to reflect the custom fields value since Team-managed project fields are currently unique to the project and the fields cannot be shared with other projects.

Unfortunately, you can only choose whether you want to override existing Jira field data or Abandon WBS Gantt-Chart unique data when you execute the data conversion.
Here are the results of both options.
WBS Gantt-chart field data(before conversion) | Jira field data(before conversion)| → Jira field data(after conversion)
Override existing field value
① blank | blank |→ blank
② have data | blank |→ WBS Gantt-chart field data
③ blank | have data |→ blank
④ have input data | have data |→ WBS Gantt-chart field data
Abandon WBS Gantt-Chart unique data
① blank | blank |→ blank
② have data | blank |→ blank
③ blank | have data |→ Jira field data
④ have data | have data |→ Jira field data

@VPN担当者 thank you so much for your answer. Could you please also help me with my second question? My guess is that, if the start and end date field is not added to the issue template, the data won't be reflected there. The user must add the field prior to the conversion. Please confirm if my guess is correct or not.

You don't have to add the Start / Finish date to the screen to override Jira's existing field value.
It means if you choose "Override existing field value" when you do the data conversion, then the value that had been entered into WBS Gantt-Chart unique fields will be shown in Jira's Start / Finish date custom fields when you add these fields to the issue screen.
But I suggest adding these fields beforehand just in case if you are worried :)

@VPN担当者 I have another question, which is a follow up on my first question.
Say if I choose to keep the data stored in Gantt Chart and abandon the data jira filed. What happen if in the case of no value in Gantt Chart but there is in Jira field. What will happen after the migration? Will the values in Jira field remain since there is no value in Gantt chart to override it?

No, it will not.
If you choose Override existing field value, then the value in Jira field is going to be abandoned even if there is no value in WBS Gantt-Chart.

@VPN担当者 I experienced error again. Could you please give me step to step instruction for conversion? I want to keep Jira data and abandon the one stored in Gantt Chart. And after the conversion, the start date, end date etc value will automatically reflected on Gantt Chart.
The following is the error I reveiced.
This is my configuration

Hello @Hsinyi Hung ,
The reason for the error is that you are using "WBS Gantt-Chart unique data" for Hierarchy link and Dependency link.
Could you set Jira issue link instead of them? The step is written in the following document.

oh I see. I mistook WBS Gantt-Chart unique data for the one shown in the document.
This should be correct right?
