I really want to go over to Linux from Windows, but not that interested in doing everything in a terminal. Would like to see SourceTree for Linux.

Atlassian. I love your tool. It is well written, and it is free!!! We need to show our appreciation for many years of an awesome product. You saved me from the command line!!! (:

But why no Linux support? It would be nice to have a good explanation! But we haven't yet. Just a short answer! As if a "political" answer!

Hmmm!!!! Really! Even though Git came from a Linux roots/ecosystem? Well, why doesn't Microsoft release MS Office for Linux? Hmmmm!!!

Whenever I see something like this happen, I have noticed that often it is rooted in "money"!

Could it be that some management or executives have forgotten the value of supporting an OpenSource ecosystem like Linux? Or possibly that they have some investments in the Windows ecosystem and have no immediate financial benefit in Linux? Or are they just short-sited and blind and will wait for their users and advocates to leave and go away before they decide to do something? And then cry when it is too late to bring them back!!! Hmmmm!!! I have seen this path too many times in my 30 year career. Usually with management and exeecutives that are out of touch or self interested. Argh!!!

MESSAGE TO ATLASSIAN BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MANAGEMENT: DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE! You are neglecting your users by ignoring them. So, they will start to ignore you also and go away from you! Users are like a wife. If you neglect her, she may go away! I learned this the hard way!!! ): Want money? Well, I would even be willing to pay for a good GUI on Linux. Happily. Make it free for those who cannot afford it, and give a recommended contribution for those, like me, who would be happy to finance and support SourceTree on Linux. But, if you continue to ignore us, you will not only lose loyal customers for SourceTree (to Kraken, etc..). You may also loose marketshare with Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence, etc.. Because users remember companies who stand up for them and provide. Act before it is too late!!! And get rid of management and executives who are "out of touch" with us developers!!!

I have been a REALLY loyal user of SourceTree for 15+ years. I would never even consider or try other GUI's because I was so happy with yours. Even if there is something better out there (like Kraken), I would not bother to look because I am a loyal user. And I have advocated for you for 15+ years, to everyone I came into contact with (many people because I am a consultant). I really hate to go. I will miss you!!! (: But now, you don't seem to be interested in providing something that we really need. So, what do you think will happen? Think we will stick around?

What is mind boggling is that now Linux i now as big in development as macOS.

The 2019 StackOverflow developer survey lists Linux as 25% of the developer's primary OS.

Please do a version for Linux, the community of developers simply need it.

What language was SourceTree written in? If it were open source, I’m sure some people (including me) would volunteer to make a Linux fork. To be honest, I very much prefer BitBucket over GitHub and would hate to make the switch. Meanwhile, I will try running it using WINE!

I've got the triple whammy of :

  • On linux
  • Use HG
  • Use BitBucket

Lots of linux clients work with Git but not HG, or the HG client doesn't work with Linux OR BB etc.

I'm using SmartGit 18.2.5 - must be that version - as it supports linux/HG/BB. But the new release will drop HG support :(

Atlassian - if there is a port started - why not start a community version ?

Happy Holidays everybody who wrote in this group! Everytime someone write to this group I get reminded how Atlassian neglects us. But remember, we're in this together.

I gave up on Atlassian a while ago. By now, we developers could have built a cross-platform Electron (or similar) based version that is open source and does exactly what SourceTree does, maybe even better.

Now I just use the CLI and JetBrian's built-in VCS manager.

AndrasS December 29, 2018

Same here.

IDEA is very good for most everyday tasks (maybe even better than SourceTree).

The only major missing feature is staging hunk by hunk for which I use git-gui when commit splitting or similar is needed.

The .NET dependency killed it for me. Here at the office, we can't update .NET as needed.

+1 for Linux. I like Sourcetree on mac and windows. Hope to see it in Linux as well.

For those who desire a nice GUI, there's always gitKraken, which is pretty nice in Linux.

+ 1 Votes for a Linux Version.

More and More developper are using LInux , even Microsoft now have linux (bash) on Windows.

A real multiple platform would be a great product, using it on Windows and MAc, but not on my Linux server and Laptop

Voting me too for a Linux Version

nearly 2k likes. Is this not enough to show you there is a market here?

Litterally every time I open gitkraken I have some kind of issue either technical or UX based that makes me cry a little inside for sourcetree on linux.

please PLEASE do SOMETHING to get this onto the linux platform. PEOPLE WILL PAY YOU HARD CASH FOR THIS!!!

+1 for Linux, I do PHP development in Linux with the rest of the atlassian stack, so need this.

Or you could opensource it and let the community do it for you!

We are in 2017 and people are still using Windows for doing Git?

Please make a Linux version. Make it a paid version. I will be happy to be your customer.

It's 2017, I made my pledge for a Linux version of SourceTree back in 2012 (or 2013, can't remember), and still I receive every once in a while in my spam box an email containing a hopeful +1 from a hopeful Linux developer.

They just don't care! Despite the fact that most developers use Linux, with the exception of Americans (because they can afford a MacOS) and hipsters around the world.

So, I'm just going to leave a quick note here:

GITKRAKEN!

I am an American and I cannot afford MacOS (because of all the unreasonable and excessive taxes Americans have to pay). And even if I could, I would still stick with Linux!
Ubuntu rules! I will consider Gitkraken.
