Is there a way to set Start Dates on Action Items in a Task List? I doin't see an OOTB way.

I don't see an OOTB way to do this.  I believe there is a Power Up that enables this as a "Deep List" functionality, but then those action items were not visible to another Power Up that summarizes all Action Items across all Cards in a board.  Ideally both would be available and work together.

Hi @John Mallon

By Task List, do you mean Trello checklists?  If so, the functionality is fairly limited out of the box.

  1. I have become more accustomed to using Trello at a card level, where a card is a task and checklists in a the card are more like a list of things to verify that the task is done instead of subtasks.
  2. You can use a bit of automation to create parent/child relationships with checklist items being converted to cards, which gives you more flexibility to visualise and summarise at a board level.  Some information can be found here:

  3. There is 1 power-up that works tremendously well for this and it also allows for start and finish dates in checklist items.  That is Placker

I hope this information helps

Yes, it looks like Placker Projects will do it.   I'm not sure I am going to want to pay the monthly cost of Placker as an individual user - we'll see.   If I find any other solution I will let you know.

The guys at Placker are great.  I recommend you go to the Placker website and chat with them using the chat icon in the bottom corner. Mention that you were referred by Mike from Dreamsuite and they will normally entertain extended trial and offer up the best options for you..
