How to use custom emojis in issues

I've added a couple of custom emojis to our Jira Software and Jira Service Desk instance. I am not able to use the shortcut markup nor are they showing in the emoji picker - I've tried both the classic view and the new view. Is there something else I have to do to get these usable in an issue?

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

Testing the emojis feature, I was able to confirm that it only works for Confluence and not Jira.

This feature was rolled out when Stride was integrated with Jira and since Stride was discontinued, this feature didn't receive new updates.
