Possible to Link a JSD Issue to an Epic from a Next-Gen Software Project?

I can't seem to associate a Jira Service Desk Issue with an Epic that has been created in a next-gen Jira Software Project. Is this possible?

  • I'm trying to do this via the Epic Link field.
  • Interestingly, I can select Epics from non-next-gen software projects.
  • The JSD project is not a next-gen one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Submitted a support case, according to Atlassian, this is to be expected as Next-Gen epics from Jira Software projects are isolated, and cannot be selected from JSD projects.

I might be mistaken but your 'test' epic in the new gen project only associates to that project, unlike a 'software' project (Kannan/scrum).

Haven't tested it myself but this seems to be the most logical from what I have experienced.

Thanks but that can't be it.

Software projects can either be classic or next-gen.

Next-gen projects can be based on the Kanban or the Scrum template.

The Epic has been created in a next-gen scrum project.
