×Hello,
I have an automation rule set up to copy the value from the original estimate time tracking field in jira to a custom field "original estimate (copy)" whenever it is changed. This works fine.
I am now trying to create a rule to add today's date ( {{now}} ) to a date custom field whenever the value of "original estimate (copy)" changes. For some reason, this rule isn't triggering. Any idea why? could it be because that field gets updated by automation rather than a user action?
My actual goal is to set a date field when the original estimate is changed on a jira issue, but because you can't select original estimate from the fields list in automation i couldnt figure out a way to do that. if you know how, then can try that instead of this workaround.
Hi @Alexandria (Lexi) Codd You need to select the below check box in the Rule Details section if you require automation to start on back of another automation rule.
Make sure this is selected and try again.
this is amazingly simple and because of my zoom level i don't know when I would have ever found this. i find the UX within rule creation rather odd, a lot of the things ive had issues with were "hiding" (though this one arguably should have been right in my face)
thank you so much!

When you run the rule, what do the audit logs say?

it doesnt have anything in because its not getting triggered ; audits only get added when you edit the rule or it suceeds or fails
