Can you create an automation against a custom field that is a multi level chooser?

AJ Greiner June 13, 2022

Hello again,

I am trying to create assignment rules based on a custom field I created for category and subcategory. I created a multi level drop down for category and subcategory. When I go to select the field in the If condition it is not there. Is it because it is a multi level?

Thanks,

Hi @AJ Greiner

If I understand correctly, you are creating Cascading Select List for your custom field. I believe, the Cascading Select List field type is not supported in the Jira automation field condition.

For the workaround, you may want to refer to the previous discussion in https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Service-Management/How-to-Trigger-an-automation-rule-using-inputs-from-a-cascading/qaq-p/1243546.

Marini

Thank you Marini,

After reading the discussion you suggested I am looking to do the opposite. I want to change the value of a single drop down chooser depending on what is chosen in the cascading list. Hope that makes sense.
