@-mention working when editing an issue, but not when creating

Hi,

I am having a problem with @-mention. When editing the Description field of an existing issue, the list of users pops up after pressing '@'. But when creating a new issue, I am instead asked to add users.

I am seeing this across sites and products, so I am wondering if this is a "feature"?

Hi @Sune Vester Lindhe

Welcome to Atlassian community!

Please type @ and try to add user name you want to mention in the description field and you will get a suggestion as shown in the screenshot.

I do type '@' - and it works fine on the edit screen but not on the create screen.

Did some additional testing. It looks like the state machine for @-mention is one key press behind:

1. Press '@': Dialog for inviting team members comes

2. Press 's': Nothing happens

3. Press 'u': Users starting with 's' is shown

4. Press backspace: Users starting with 'su' is shown

My colleague is seeing the same thing. And it is the same across sites and products.

Hi @Sune Vester Lindhe

you can filter by any user, it's just the "start search" will be using the team entity, so the "invite teammates" will be the first thing that will appear, when you type @.

If you delete the @ and type it again, the list will be teams

If you start typing something after the @ like for example @ga will first list the teams with ga and then the users

I had requested Atlassian team to create a improvement ticket and please vote for the same -

Please accept the answer if it helps.

Thanks,

Tejaswini
