Add Expected Done Date field to Issues

Alex December 30, 2019

Hello!

I am going nuts with this. I am trying to simply add one field to my issues within a project: the Expected Done Date.

Here is what I have done so far: under the board settings > Issue Detail View, I added the field to my list of Date fields.

I also looked at the Kanban Default Issue Screen by clicking on "Configure" in one of my issues. In this settings page, I cannot see the Expected Done Date in the list of fields nor can I add it.

Any tips?

Is this custom field already created and you simply are trying to have it displayed on the cards in the Kanban board or are you trying to create the custom field?

if the later then what you have already done should result in seeing any planned due dates in the cards IF there is a date entered for an issue. If there is no date then nothing displayed of course.

If the former then you need to create an add the custom field to your project before you can display it.

Hello @Jack Brickey , thanks for the reply.

I believe this is not a custom field.

In my project's settings page, this is one of the existing date fields I can add to the list of the Issue Details View (screenshot below). Adding this field would be the same thing as adding the Due Date or Resolved Date to my issue.

By the way, I also tried adding the Due Date in this list and it was also not reflected in the fields available to be filled in the issues.

So I do believe it is a custom field. I suspect the issue here is that while you may have the "Expected Done Date" as a global field you have not added it to your screen for the project in question. A couple of ways to do this but here is one I suggest...

  1. Jira settings
  2. Issues
  3. Custom fields
  4. find the Expected Done Date and click on the ellipses to the right. Do you see the screen(s) associated w/ your project? I expect not.
  5. select Screens
  6. find the screen(s) for your project and click the checkbox
  7. scroll to bottom and update
  8. navigate back to your Kanban
  9. select an issue on the board
  10. in the pop up select show more
  11. do you see it???

Check the screens for the custom  "Expected Done Date", make sure you have the screens from your project selected, especially create, edit and view screen if you are using.

Then after doing so, to display the field on the screen, the value has to be present in the issue.

After that what you have done is correct

Make sure to check the context, field configuration, screen to make sure your "Expected Done Date" field is added.

lol. it doesn't work like this: If the former then you need to create an add the custom field to your project before you can display it.
