Is it possible to group by custom fields in Advanced Roadmaps?  It seems that only certain fields are available in the drop-down menu.  We have a custom field for program increment and I'd like to be able to group by and sort by it.  Ideally, it would rollup by this field as well.

Hi @CC

You can only group by:

  • Assignee
  • Component
  • Label
  • Project
  • Release
  • Sprint
  • Team

Hi @CC,

You will very soon be able to group your plans by custom fields - we will start to release this feature on March 27, 2023. You can follow the release progress by voting / watching this feature suggestion ticket: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-21708

Best regards,

Quentin

Hi @Quentin Feyaerts ,

Do you have any info if this feature will be backported to Data center instances? If yes, a timeline would be very helpful.

Thanks & regards,

Janaki.

Hi @CC

I know you're looking for this capability in AR, but just to put this out there in case you're open to alternative views, too: If an app from the Atlassian Marketplace is an option for you, you might want to check out the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, such as the ability to group by any issue field (or fields), including all built-in custom fields and custom fields from several popular apps. This is how this looks in action:

group-by-program-increment.gif

You can also create any number of nested groups, and combine grouping with JXL's other advanced features, such as support for issue hierarchies or conditional formatting.

(If your program increment field comes from the Easy Agile app, you can read up on our integration here. But if it's "just" a regular custom field, it will work perfectly fine, too.)

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
