Currently we have a customer field called PM which is similar to Assignee. It previously (yesterday) showed team member names as you typed. We haven't changed anything. Is Jira Cloud having issues?
A modification to a user group which was a filter for the custom field ensured no users were returned because the user group had zero members. Ensure if you set a custom field filter that it will return values. Reverting the change to allow for All active users ended up resolving the issue.

Oh! Can you see if browse users and group global permission is assigned to the group which you users belong to? Go to cog > system > global permissions

Permissions are fine because jira-software-users is our default where everyone is added and it is assigned in the browse users and groups global permissions setting.

Investigating - We are investigating reports of intermittent errors for Confluence, Jira Work Management, and Jira Software Cloud customers in Europe. The impact is that on about 10 percent of requests, quick search - the search bar in the top navigation - is missing users from the search results. Other results like pages, issues, are OK.
We will provide more details once we identify the root cause.
