Why are the columns of the backlog of a team managed backlog different from a company managed board?

We've upgraded to a company managed board, but I want the workflow-status vissable in my backlog as I used to see in my old backlog-view.

And I also want the issue-number to be te first of the shown colomns (on the left)

How do I do that?

Hello @Reinier Beenen

Welcome to the community.

The short answer is that is simply the way it is at this time.

The Company Managed project/board functionality is the original functionality for Jira Software. This is based on the functionality implemented in the original Jira Software Server/Data Center products.

The functionality of Team Managed projects is relatively new. Atlassian has been exploring and implementing different functionality to address the needs of different use cases with the Team Managed projects, and implementing some enhancements that have not yet (or may never) been implemented in Company Managed projects/boards.

You cannot re-arrange how the data appears in the "cards" that show in the backlog, so you will not be able to reposition the issue key.

You can add up to three additional fields to the card layout in the Backlog screen and in the Board view through the Card Layout option. Click on the ... button in the upper right corner and select Board Settings. Then select Card Layout. Here you can select up to 3 additional fields to add to the cards. You can add Status to the card display in this way.

Different Software written for slightly different purposes (or rather, type of team).  A backlog in a company-managed project could be covering many projects, and when you're refining a backlog in a many-project board, the issue description is the most important thing users want to see.  For team-managed, it's one project, the team all work in the same place, and they're more likely to know and refer to things via the issue key, rather than the summary.

>workflow-status vissable in my backlog

You can add fields, including status, to the backlog view.  Have a look at the board layout settings!  There's a lot more flexibility in the company-managed boards!
