Backup/Roll back if needed.

Hello. In the next few weeks I will be implementing a new workflow for the enterprise, which has many steps. This will be my first change since migrating from Datacenter to Jira Cloud.  As with any change, we create a backup in the event we need to roll back.  I am using System/Back up manager/back up for cloud and have selected "Include attachments, avatars, and logos in the backup."

From reading posts in the community, this is the suggested method to restore for activities such as mine as well as to restore inadvertently deleted objects whereas the vendor auto created backup is strictly for disaster recovery?

It seems obvious but I have to ask. The backup I'm creating/downloading contains EVERYTHING in my cloud instance and can be used to restore to to its original state should I have to roll back?  There is no other file or directory that needs to be backed up?

I was reading I read a post HERE and it mentions  ricoh-bldr.atlassian.net Jira data. Want to ensure I'm not missing anything and can be confident of the roll back procedures.

Hello Vish. Are your responses predicated on any nonstandard software or utility supplied by Atlassian?

Hello @Emerico Vespucci

The app we have built is based on using the standard API's that Atlassian has published here - https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/intro/

Hi @Emerico Vespucci

I represent Revyz, what you are seeing in the post is accurate in terms of the steps that need to be taken to do a backup.

In talking to many people and personal experience, that process works in cases where your overall data set is small.

The other part to also take into consideration is the restore process. Again, here if the data set is large, you would have to do some manual work to get the data back into the site.

Reference the instructions provided - https://[YOUR SITE].atlassian.net/secure/admin/CloudImport!start.jspa?source=CLOUD

This process is what inspired me and my cofounder to build an add-on for Jira to automate the backup and restore operations for you by using the restful API's. You can learn more about Revyz and our add-on here

In summary Revyz help's automate the backup process every 24 hrs and provide for granular restore as in most cases you want to get back an deleted attachment or restore back a couple issues etc..

Happy to address any questions you may have.

Thank you

Vish
